Senator Beau McCoy on Wheel Fee and Faster Keno Games

Sen. Beau McCoy representing District 39 in western Douglas County. He has announced that he will fight any effort to reconsider the City of Omaha collecting a wheel tax for people living outside the city but within a three mile zone, That fee is scheduled to end next year. He also discusses a renewed effort by two city council members to get the legislature to allow Keno games to be played less than every five minutes in an effort to encourage more keno revenue for the city.

In Nebraska's nonpartisan Legislature, a lawmaker needlessly hinders his or her effectiveness by being a rigid partisan. As the new session gets under way, it has been encouraging to see how some members of the freshman class with backgrounds as fervent party activists have commendably been making efforts to reach out to all their colleagues regardless of party label. Two examples: Democrat Ken Haar and Republican Beau McCoy.
